The use of the telephone as a collection tool can be cost effective and productive, provided that the collecting firm has provided adequate orientation and technical training to its Credit & Collection personnel. The orientation should put emphasis on the value of developing quality customer relations and goodwill between the customers and the credit -firm. While the technical training should focus on building effective person-to-person communication skills.
